DRUG REACTIONS
_
There are no known breed specific drug reactions that we know of or have come across but you will always get some animals within a breed which have anaphylactic reactions to commonly used drugs.
There have been reports of some Dogues that cannot handle Ivermectin (Heart Worm/Demodex (Mange)treatment) as there have been a few cases of the MDR1 Mutant gene (diagnosed through DNA testing as having this mutant gene, the same thing that is prevalent in collies). One dose of heartguard has been known to cause death or severe neurological damage. Speak to your vet if you are concerned about other heartworm medication that does not contain Ivermectin.
It's also not recommended to use Acepromazine in any short muzzled dog as it can drop their heart rate and body temp dramatically, causing death. Ace can also make dogs extremely agitated and aggressive.
Domitor is known to be a respiratory depressant and drops blood pressure but a lot comes down to monitoring, dosing to effect—rather than weight and the vets familiarity with the product whatever it is.
Rimadyl, it's always best to do full bloodwork before starting any treatment with this drug as it can cause death if there is any kidney/liver disease present. Really any NSAID, it's best to do bloodwork first to make sure there are no issues going on that the NSAID's can intensify.
